Zero Discrimination Day is observed every year on 1 March.

The day promotes diversity and recognizes that everyone counts.

The day also aims to protect women’s rights, remove discriminatory laws to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and ensure equity and equality for all.

Zero Discrimination Day also promotes the necessity of equal rights, opportunities and treatments.

The symbol for Zero Discrimination Day is the butterfly. It is used by people to share their stories and photos as a way to end discrimination and work towards positive transformation.

The United Nations celebrated Zero Discrimination Day on 1 March 2014, after UNAIDS.

UNAIDS is a program on human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) launched its Zero Discrimination Campaign on World AIDS Day in December 2013.
