National Vaccination Day is observed annually on 16th March in India. The day is also known as National Immunization Day.

The Government of India celebrates National Vaccination Day every year to convey the importance of vaccination to the people of the country.

The prime purpose behind the celebration of National Vaccination Day is to make all people aware of arming against polio and eradicating it completely from the world.

It was first observed on 16 March, 1995 when the first dose of Oral Polio Vaccine was given.
