The Godavari is India's second longest river after the Ganga. The river Godavari rises at an elevation of 1,067 m in the Western Ghats near Thriambak Hills in the Nasik district of Maharashrta. After flowing for about 1,465 km, in a generally south-east direction, it falls into the Bay of Bengal.
