National Tourism Day is celebrated on 25 Jan to promote the importance of tourism for the country’s economy.

National Tourism Day is observed to cultivate awareness among the global community on the importance of tourism and its political, cultural, social, and financial worth.

India has a rich culture of varied traditions, customs and festivals. The terrain, language and the way of living changes here every few kilometers.

It also gives a major boost to the economy of the nation. According to statistics, over 7.7% of Indian employees work in the tourism industry.

Ministry of Tourism promotes national policies for the development of tourism in the country. It coordinates the central, state and public sector agencies. For the first time, in 1948, the central government formed a tourist committee to promote tourism in India.
